Damian Duffy is a curator, teacher, and a Glyph Comics, Eisner Comics, and Bram Stoker Award-winning, #1 New York Times bestselling graphic novelist. He and his frequent collaborator, John Jennings, are co-creators of the acclaimed graphic novel adaptation of Octavia Butler’s Kindred, as well as the editors of the seminal anthologies, Black Comix and Black Comix Returns. As lecturers, Damian and John have spoken widely--including at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Maryland Institute of Contemporary Art, and the Schomburg Center--about the process of adapting Kindred and their work championing comics by black creators. Their graphic novel adaptation of Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower is forthcoming from Abrams ComicArts. Damian is on faculty at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he teaches courses on computers & culture, and social media & global change.
